St. Paul’s Food Pantry

Grant Amount Needed: $5,750

By supporting this project you will be helping St. Paul’s expand their food pantry ministry and enable them to provide better options by purchasing an industrial refridgerator.

Project Overview

The Food Distribution Program at St. Paul’s Church in downtown Summerville, SC, serves healthy food to the church’s neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity. The pantry also provides a safe, loving environment to shop for free food and clothing, and other personal care needs.

The food ministries serve alongside the vulnerable on a regulal basis. The pantry is open two mornings and two evenings a week, and the church hosts a once a month drive-thru food distribution event. Volunteers are trained to ensure the best possible relational experiences between neighbors and volunteers. The clothing & diaper ministries are other services instrumental in the mercy mission.

Project Impact

St. Paul’s Church’s vision is to transform their current space, Scardon Hall, into an entire Mercy Ministries building. The M25i Grant and matching funds would enable them to purchase a medium industrial refrigerator and large industrial freezer as in addition to completing some renovations to their current kitchen area so they can start to serve fresh hot soup and food to their neighbors. By having the proper tools, they will be able to sustain fresh food, dairy, fruits, veggies, and frozen meat. With the cost of food on the continual rise, buying healthy food to serve is becoming more of a challenge. Their pantry is often low on food due to a limited budget.
